screen. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the

Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit
code. This code is different depending on what region your player is
*currently* set to:

So for example if you have an R2 player, press REPEAT-3-8-7-6-7.

If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the

Load up your region 1 disc. If it doesn't load, repeat the hack with the key press changed to DVD/TV, TIME SEARCH, 2, 0, 0. The DVD player should now be multi-region. To change your player back repeat the hack except using a region 2 disc.

Using the Remote Commander, enter the code below corresponding to the region that your player is currently set to

Further information has emerged for the very latest players. The only drawback with the below is that it isn't held when the player is switched off. You also need an Aiwa remote control, our forum visitor used the Aiwa RC-7AS08:

Turn on the player
Open the DVD tray
Press Sleep on the Aiwa Remote, and you will see a cold start message on screen
Press Clock 3 times very quickly, pressing and pressing, you will see an adjust message on front of DVD player
Put any Region of DVD in and it will play
It may also work with other Samsung DVD-Mxxx models, but may not work for machines with the 5.02E firmware loaded. Try the Samsung V-5000 hack, it MAY work.

If the player sticks on FBI Warning screens:

Press Forward Search x2 or faster, the disc should skip straight to the main feature

Wait until no disc appears. Press INFO again. the no disc sign will disappear. Press 7-6-8-8-4. the number 4 will appear on the upper left corner. Press 9 and that number will replace the 4. Press Repeat. Turn off the player. Turn it on and it will now read any region disc. Enjoy watching!

3) Press the info button, the firmware version shows up (mine was 080220.13.B.1080PXKEG)
4) After the version info disappears, close the tray again by pressing the Open/Close button
5) At this point, it will show no disc at the top. Press the Info button again, and this will disappear.
6) Now type the code that applies for your region (R2 is 57538). A '2' will briefly show up at the top left corner
7) Now press 9, and 9 will show up in the top left corner
8) Power off the player, and turn it on again. You'll have a multi region player

Consider using a UK based online rental company for your DVD's such as or who have a fabulous range of movies to rent with no late return fees and a free trial. Its much cheaper to do it this way than to wait for sky digital or buy region 2 or 1 films from the internet.
