Hack Details for your JVC DVD, Blu-Ray or HD DVD Player

JVC XV-2000
1. Press the Power button on the player to turn it off
2. Wait 5 seconds
3. Press and hold the buttons DVD Menu and On Screen on the player together, and then press the Power button on the player to turn it back on
4. Release the DVD Menu and On Screen buttons
5. Press the Standby button on your player, the display should now show either TEST 2, TEST 4 or TEST 6 depending on the player region
6. Press the DVD Menu button on your player twice in a row, the display should now show 000 5858
7. By pressing the Up and Down cursors buttons, change the first three digits until they read 02E
8. By pressing the Right and Left cursors buttons, change the last four digits until they read 0000 for Region Free, 0101 for Region 1, 0202 for Region 2, 0404 for Region 4, 0808 for Region 8, and finally 2020 for Region 20.
9. If you experience difficulties with Region 4 discs, change the above setting to 0458 and make sure that PAL or NTSC is correctly set on your player
10. Press the Enter button on your player to confirm the region change
11. Press the Standby button on the player to turn it off
12. Wait 5 seconds
13. Press the Standby button on the player to turn it on

JVC XV-S300BK
Unplug DVD player

Plug system back in while holding the Open/Close and the play buttons (ON THE PLAYER, NOT the remote)

The word Test should come up on the player Display

Press 9 on the remote until the display on the player says 00A0 0000

Press Standby/on (remote or player)

Wait 15 seconds

Turn player back on

JVC XDB-2000
Ensure the power is Off and that there is No disc in the player
Hold down On Screen and DVD Menu buttons
Press the main power switch then release the two buttons
Press the Standby/On button. The player powers up in test mode
Press DVD Menu twice
Press Up/Down until the left area of the display reads 02E
Press Left/Right to set the last two digits on the right-hand side of the display to the region you want (the first two digits do not matter)
Press then Enter button
Press Standby/On
When you switch On again the, the region is as set up in step 7

JVC XV-N5
Press the Power button on the player to turn it Off
Wait 5 seconds
Press and hold the buttons DVD Menu and On Screen on the player together, and then press the Power button on the player to turn it back On
Release the DVD Menu and On Screen buttons
Press the Standby button on your player, the display should now show either TEST 2, TEST 4 or TEST 6 depending on the player region
Press the DVD Menu button on your player twice in a row, the display should now show 000 5858
By pressing the Up and Down cursors buttons, change the first three digits until they read 02E
By pressing the Right and Left cursors buttons, change the last four digits until they read 0000 for Region Free, 0101 for Region 1, 0202 for Region 2, 0404 for Region 4, 0808 for Region 8, and finally 2020 for Region 20

JVC 501-BK
Ensure there is no disc in the player
Turn the player Off and unplug the power lead
Press and hold the On Screen and Title keys simultaneously and plug the AC cord back in while holding the keys pressed down
Release the keys when you see Test JC3 or Test JC2.
Press Enter
The Resume light will turn On
Press the Power button to turn the player Off
Press the Power button again to turn On your player
Note: If steps 7 and 8 don't work, unplug and re-plug your player instead of using the power switch to turn the player on and off.

What To Do If Your Player Is Not Listed Here Yet.

If one of these hacks does work for you then GREAT! please leave us feedback and let us know on our forum :) However, If you have tried and tried this hack till your blue in the face and you STILL cant get that region 1 copy of 'Michael Flatley's Lord of the dance' to work then you still have a few options:

Post your problem on the forum and we will try and help.

OPTION 3

Consider using a UK based online rental company for your DVD's such as or who have a fabulous range of movies to rent with no late return fees and a free trial. Its much cheaper to do it this way than to wait for sky digital or buy region 2 or 1 films from the internet.
