Sony Hanycam HDR-UX1 is the first AVCHD camcorder with 8cm DVD media in 2006. With the 2.1 megapixel ClearVid CMOS, you can record 1920x1080 HD video and SD video in great quality. This camcorder enables you to easily copy video or still images from Memory Stick media to DVD without using a PC. The camcorder is compatible with various kinds of DVD discs like DVD-R/-RW /+RW.

The good:
Sharp, saturated, low-noise video; excellent build quality; fast, smooth focus with effective image stabilization.
The bad: 
Mediocre still photos; optical and occasional motion artifacts in video;; lame but necessary bundled software; no windscreen filter for microphone, a little on the heavy side; short recording times in highest quality mode.
This camcorder records in high definition to mini-dvd disks using the AVCHD compression format. It will only playback in AVCHD capable DVD players. If you have Blu-ray player, it shall work too. It is easy to transfer videos to computer for editing, recomposing. Just put it in the DVD drive directly from the camcorder and import directly onto the HDD, and you can edit HD video on computer.
